Today we are heading home for the holidays to Charleston, SC.
I grew up in Charleston since I was 12 and love going home to be with my parents, meet up with friends, see how my hometown has changed since the last time I was there, and eat my way through my favorite restaurants!
On the docket this visit are Purlieu for a girl’s night and F.I.G with my brother and sister-in-law. Purlieu is new to the area and new for my friends, but F.I.G has been around for a while and is an absolute favorite of ours.
I reached out to the local U.S. Masters Swimming group to train with them during a few of their coached group swims. There is a swim store that offers videoed technique review using their infinity pool and I plan to get in the water there as well to fine-tune my stroke. If it is not too cold I might throw on my wetsuit and head to the beach- there is nothing like swimming in the ocean!
My 3 year-old twin nieces are coming too and I am so excited to celebrate Christmas with them and have Santa visit us! I am going to put together no-sew fleece blankets so they can get cozy-wozy on the couch while we watch Christmas movies eating sugar cookies. I am curious too to see how they react to my cane. The first time they saw me use it they were a year and half old. The one girl pointed to it and said “rake.” My mom and I corrected her, “no that is a cane, it helps Auntie Kerry walk.” The last time I saw the girls was this summer and the same one who called my cane a rake asked me what it was. I told her “it is my cane, it helps me walk.” She then informed me she did need help to walk and pranced away.
