Signature pistachio green Lauree sac on my lap with a half eaten macaron in my hand

Tuesday Patrick and I flew to Ljuljana, Slovenia for our European vacation this summer.  A friend of mine from when I first lived in Paris is German and getting married in Saarbrucken, Germany.  Of course, we could not go that far and not add on more travel.  I found a neat swim vacation company called Swim Trek and picked one of their shorter swim trips in Europe- the 4KM a day for 4 days in Lake Bled, Slovenia.

We arrived safe and sound, but not without a few hitches in Paris with our cross-Atlantic flight arriving late + a less than efficient method for assisting flight passengers with handicaps = us missing our connecting flight to Ljubljana and having to be routed through Munich, Germany.  Per EU standard when you have a flight delay of 2+ hours the airline company will give you a small meal stipend.  We chose to use both at my favorite dessert shop, Laduree, to stock up on macarons!

Caramel au buerre salee! My third favorite after vanilla and chocolate.

Eventually we made it to Ljubljana.  A lot later than expected, but all in one piece.  We walked around the corner of our hotel and grabbed a drink outside at a cafe and when it was time for them to close the outside, we headed back to our room.  The minibar was calling out name and we had a fab time raiding it especially because the was a split of Mumm champagne!  When given the option to drink champagne my answer is always YES!

the Laduree sac, a Lindt chocolate bar, a half-bottle of Mumm's champagne, opened bottle of small Pringles, chunky Kit Kat bar all laid out of the mini bar fridge with a digital clock showing the time: 4 minutes past midnight
Our stash before we devoured it all!

Our next few days will be crazy busy, at least for me.  Early mornings up and at ’em to go swimming in Lakes Bled, Bohinj, and Predil (that one is in Italy), and the Socca River.  We will go all day with a swim in the morning and another in the afternoon followed by group dinners.  Patrick will be leisurely exploring and running through the area while I am away and joining us where possible.
